Unable to update Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10

Bug Description

Error message while running update manager:
E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

After force closing update-manager and re-opening the following message is displayed:

This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

ia32-libs:

Could not calculate the upgrade
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

Looks like some of the log info was cut off. Can you attach the directory /var/log/dist-upgrade/?

Sorry .. but I rebuilt the laptop with Ubuntu 11.10 manually (i.e. fresh
install) didn't back up the logs.
