update manager cannot download updates

it says check your internet connection. connection is good and i have internet access and network. it's the update manager.
pls advise how to do the update from terminal.

it could not find the updates. i think the error was on the ubuntu side. I checked what it was looking for and those packages were not available on the server. it works now as packages are available.
