Bug Description

In Linux Mint 12 there is no working option to add a printer(!), at least not a network printer.

There is System Settings > Printers but A) It cannot add a network printer and B) It cannot configure a printer, only add

This was not a problem in Linux Mint 11 but it was one out of many configurable options that was removed.

Running the program 'system-config-printer' is a good workaround which brings up the same configuration tool which was under Preferences in Ubuntu 11.04 (and Linux Mint 11?).

Another workaround is to point your browser to http://localhost:631

Same problem here. If I open Menu > Preferences > Printers, I can not add or config a printer.

If I open a shell and run system-config-printer I can add my printer and config it.

Used Ubuntu 12.04 before, didnt have the problem here. Seems Ubuntu starts system-config-printer by default,
if you go to Menu > Preferences > Printers.

I have 2 Brother printers in a wired LAN. Upon installing Brother drivers, both printers appear in Printer properties. I'm unable to connect.

On following CUPS 1.6.1 "...You need to set the IP address as static".
I'm not sure that is accurate as the network configuration printed at the printer
after the install indicates a dynamic IP per DHCP, yet I'm still unable to connect.

The previously installed drivers, although totally removed via synaptic,
still have the LPR & CupsWrapper drivers showing in System-Config-Printers .
Cups won't authenticate so unable to manage / set IP.

I can send debugging output if needed. Thx, Joseph
