Hi,
I tried everything and it still has not worked. I downloaded an earlier version. It installed ok own through the wubi function, but after I upgraded it to the current package, and reboot my PC, the screen went blank/dark. Partition my hard drive, booted from the live disk, and went through the "workaround option, the program installed, but after reboot, the screen went black, and the same issue. [drm:intel_

Hi,
Please see copy of what I encountered when I conducted the installation through the ["Workaround"] option from/through [WUBI] That is the only time the software installed was from the workaround option.. I also tried to install it in the [safe mode] after it gave me the option to select after tapping the [Esc key]. Hopefully you can read it. It looks ok as a complete install, but my screen timed out in a few seconds just as the program about to load to the actual desktop. I have also adjusted my power management settings to [never] and that has not worked. As stated in one of my previous post. I had a little success I believe it was from the 10.04 version I saves back in June 2011, but after I updated my software’s , it failed

Please check out a copy of the pictures of the actual issues submitted and let me know. Thanks! I was also wondering why it would ask me to hit the [Esc] key to select an option to install. If i do not then it goes blank.

Problem in Precise too, on my Dell Vostro 3750 (NVidia, Core i5 2410M), not on my Dell Vostro 3550 (ATI).
Strangely enough, both the 32 bits and 64 bits versions install and work beautifully on the very same Vostro V3750 under Oracle VM Virtualbox, installed under Windows 7 64 bits professional edition.
I updated my BIOS to A12, just in case. Problems remain : Ubuntu will just not boot, except under Virtualbox. :-(

Same Problem. Dell i7 2670 QM CPU 2.20 GHZ. This was an upgrade from my prior 1720 i5. I am giving up, and sticking to windows. I believe if they are looking to expand their base, this should be address. There are some conflict with the NVidia card. I do not have the same error as posted on my prior submission. Now my system just tries to install after it rebooted and go blank. No need to partition my hard drive, it will be a waste.

Today, I reinstalled it on my Desktop [Dell Workstation] T5400, and it worked somewhat ok. However, when I try to watch a few video clips and go to another webpage, the screen goes black and re-appears. Also, it re-started a few times and forced me back to the log in screen.
I know we are discussing the [Lap-top] issues, but maybe if this new issues can help the development team to solve my lap-top issues. Also, in following up to a previous post; the Virtual Box worked fine, but you are limited. This is Wubi installation. I am not going to use my hard drive as a dedicated platform to run the 12.4 program due to these ongoing issues. I am going to wait until I can get an update that will work.

So, to add to the discussion and maybe also to the analysis, some contributions from me.
I have the same kind of problem on Fedora 16, 64bit on a Clevo W17HN, i7-2630QM, Nvida GeForce 540M on PCI:1:0:0 and Intel SandyBridge on PCI:0:2:0 running optimus.
Booting in different ways results in (reproducable) different bootup results.
If I boot up normally, I get stuck during the boot up process; I have to press the power button to continue (see messages file in booting_normal)
If I boot up with the kernel parameter acpi=noirq the computer starts up, but my bumblebee service is not functioning anymore.
If I boot up with an external mouse attached (but for the rest similar to the normal boot up process) I normall get the machine running (no log files attached). However, I experience an unstable wifi connection which is lost once in a while.
If I boot up with the kernel parameter drm.debug=0x04, the computer is booting up correctly (see log files in booting_drmdebug)
If I boot up via the recovery mode, and then type "telinit 5" at the prompt, my graphical interface start up and the computer is fully functional (also stable wifi connection, working bumblee service) (see log files in booting_recovery).
I hope that these log files will help to get the problem solved.

Same thing for me, I have a Dell XPS 15z, with Intel and Nvidia GeForce GT 540M card, running Ubuntu 12.04. It's a dual-boot, using grub loader, Win7 on the other partition.
Everything was running fine until a couple of months back, when I installed a load of updates. Then one day I rebooted to Windows, did some work, then coming back to Ubuntu I got the ERROR:drm:
I also tried acpi=noirq i915.semaphores=1 after reading in on one of these forums...but this didn't work for me.
An IT guy reinstalled drivers (instal the bumblebee and the nvidia-current driver recompiled from the official source deb), then it worked with acpi=noirq, optirun and multithreading etc. However on rebooting to Windows and back again, the problem reappeared, so back to setting acpi=off.
I hope someone fixes this soon!

Thanks for the feedback. Here is a simple solution. Remove all USB's or any thing plus into the PC ports, Install, and make sure you boot without, and that should help. You can re-plug, after you are at the desktop, and the operating system will recognize the USB.
