Bug Description

The Kensington trackball I bought (specifically, http://amzn.com/B002OOWB3O , does not have a clickable scroll wheel and required two button mouse emulation to be enabled manually via the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Quirks#2-button Mice .

xrdodrx, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-evdev REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hello Christopher,

Unfortunately I no longer have the trackball in question. Maybe someone else who owns one will come around.

I have this hardware and can provide whatever troubleshooting is necessary.

The trackball is reported as "Primax Kensington Eagle Trackball" and appears to be recognized as having 3 buttons. The trackball has only two buttons, a scroll ring (that does not click as a button), and the ball (also, does not click).

Evdev Middle Button Emulation set to 1 works.

Benjamin McGough, given this report is closed, in order for this to be addressed, it will help immensely if you filed a new report with Ubuntu via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

Please ensure you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information.

Also, please feel free to subscribe me to it.
