Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
As Edu pointed out on bug 71364, since an upgrade to feisty, zooming in below a certain distance causes the map to disappear, being replaced by some kind of fog.
I can confirm the issue, since I get exactly the same thing shown on Edu's screenshots.

I can contribute this link* which seems the same problem in i945. According freedestkop's bug, the issue is solved, at least in development branch.
