Bug Description

I recently downloaded Ubuntu 11.10. I plugged in my HP Simple Save backup hardrive, everything was fine. Selected the drive to safely remove it from the system, got a message that i could safely remove the Simple Save then computer crashed. I could not move the mouse I couldn't even turn off the computer, the power button was frozen. I have never heard of a crash that locks out the power button. Had to remove the battery on my computer (Samsung R580 laptop) in order to clear. Was able to boot up and also able to recreate the freeze. Help please. I am completely new to Ubuntu so talk newbie. Thanks in advance.

That bug was fixed in a stable release update. Can you try applying updates and see if this issue is fixed? You can apply the updates from a terminal with:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

If the updates do fix this bug, please mark it as a duplicate of bug 868628

Although I don't understand how it is a duplicate of 868628. I linked it
as such. I trust you know what you're doing. Cause I sure don't. Problem
was solved by update/upgrade. Thanks to everyone who helped along the way.
