The folder is empty!?

To be sure, I made certain that hidden files were shown. I also checked the properties of the folder and it showed the folder as being empty.

Strange, no?

What else can I do to help you figure this one out?

No, I was just trying to install the regular security updates. I learned to hard way to never try to install a new version, but to install fresh from an iso.

In a terminal do,

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Its not a distribution upgrade so dont worry about that. See if it installs the requested updates and corrects the problem.

Are we getting closer?

i went into the update manager and un-checked the ricotz sources, and the update now works great!

you're a genius! how did you know that was the source causing the problem?

That PPA wants to upgrade the packages 'gnome-control-center ' and 'libglib2.0-0 ' among others I am sure, but the system does not want to upgrade them because it may break other packages. Usually this is not a problem with a PPA because it handles all dependencies. It may be a poorly put together PPA though, I am not sure. Also consider the fact that its not 'stable' but 'testing'.

Thanks for reporting this though, and feel free to report any other bugs you may find. Closing.
