enabling nvidia needs to check for nvidia-glx

Try the following to install a package nicely:
# synaptic --non-interactive --set-selections-file $file --non-interactive --hide-main-window --parent-window-id xid

you can also use "--set-selection" and pass the selection to synaptic via stdin (this does not work with gksu though). The format of the selections is similar to dpkg --get-selections. Pass it a pkgname and a action (install, deinstall).

You can get the xid for a window via GtkWindow.window.xid (the second window gives the GdkWindow).
