Bug Description

For some songs in my collection, waveform display does not show normal waveform, instead it only shows a solid block like all the sound in the song would be 100% levels.

Same time the waveform overview display shows normal view and the track plays normally. Example tracks include "Shake and Play" by Janette Slack from Beatport, and I think all problematic tracks are mixed very loud.

What is your setting for ReplayGain Initial Boost ?

Check in Mixxx` Preferences->Normalization , default is 6db.

The value was at default 6dB. However, good catch, disabling replay gain removed the issue. The track in question did not have replaygain analysis tags (it's m4a so I'm not sure if replaygain supports this even if I of course can write the tags there).

May you try to right-click on a problematic track and choose "Reload Track Metadata"?
ReplayGain analysis should start again. Do the problem persist?

Yes, this fixed the data - so now I just wonder how it ended up wrong in the first place.

Sounds like this could be caused by an uninitialized variable somewhere...

Is it reproducible on certain tracks? Maybe there's a bug in the replaygain analysis. I reviewed the engine/waveform side of things and can't imagine how it would be messing up so it has to be in the analyzer.

If there is a particular file it always is reproducible on, could you send it to me? Email is my username at mixxx dot org.

Sorry it doesn't happen at all with the tracks in question anymore, after reloading tags it's ok.

Only difference I could think of was that I was doing initial library analysis while I played it first time when this bug appeared. Maybe some update conflict happened, replaygain data being added to details multiple times or only partially?

I think this is quite low priority issue to solve, because it can be fixed by tag reload. Not if it happens all the time, but this was not the case for me at least.
