I can't reproduce this. Could you please attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman to this bug, following the directions in http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs? Thanks in advance.

I've tried it again using Herd5 this time, here's /var/log/syslog

By the way, Herd5 installed just fine with these locale settings outside of VMware.
