Bug Description

To replicate, in Unity-2d:
Open nautilus and start a file copy operation going.
Note that the nautilus launcher now shows two markers for the two windows, but Alt-Tab does not show the progress window and clicking the launcher icon again also only shows the main window rather than both, so there is no way to get back to the progress window other than hiding the others, and if the progress window is minimised there is no way to see it at all.

Using nautilus 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu2 and unity-2d 4.14-0ubuntu1~bzr780 (from daily ppa) on Oneiric.

This bug seems similar to bug #868032 but is not the same (see messages #25 - #29 on that bug)

It's almost the same in Unity 3D in Ubuntu 12.04. The progress window is not visible in alt-tab.
However there are workarounds:
- It is visible if I do ctrl-alt-tab and wait over the nautilus window
- I can right click on the icon in the launcher and select "Show copy dialog"

I was quite annoyed before I searched and found the above ways to display it. Now I can live with that.

Same problem for me in Unity-2d in Ubuntu Precise 12.04.1 and Nautilus 3.4.2 ...

I found a workaround to recover the progress window: wmctrl

wmctrl -l List the windows being managed by the window manager.
wmctrl -a <WIN> Switch to the desktop containing the window <WIN>, raise the window, and give it focus.

See wmctrl(1) - Linux man page http://linux.die.net/man/1/wmctrl

It does the trick! But it is just a workaround!

I miss Lucid on that one....

ctrl-alt-tab does not work (nor alt-tab...) at all for me...

I can confirm the problem in 13.04. But the progress window does show up sometimes. I did not yet figure out when it shows and when it does not.

@ubuntux-kk this bug is about the problem in unity-2d. There is no unity-2d in 13.04 so this bug is not relevant to your problem.

I confirm this bug in the up-to-date ubuntu 13.10 with unity. I think it's a bug in nautilus.
It's great that the buggy nautilus will be replaced in the future.

I would like to add that I experience this behavior on a fully updated 13.10.
Unity, nautilus or something else? I don't know.

@Marcus as this bug specifically relates to Unity 2D, which is not available for 13.10 you are not seeing this particular bug.
