Ubuntu Software Center does not load

I started it with gksudo software-center and it asked for my password. No error messages, and the Software Center did not open.

Linux Mint 12
 This has happened after several tries.

In Mint, you should use mintInstall and mintUpdate rather than the ubuntu software center.
However, if you really want to use the ubuntu software center, you could try "pkexec software-center" instead of gksudo.
Also, have you tried running it from terminal in order to see if any error messages come up then ?
