Bug Description

Hi
I keep getting upgrade notifications & clicking the upgrade button. It starts of OK then fails.
The sequence goes:-
1) Preparing for upgrade
2) Third party sources disabled (I click "OK")
3) Setting new software channels ( this fails with the following error )
"Error during update

W:Failed to fetch http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/intrepid-backports/main/source/Sources 404 Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/intrepid-backports/restricted/source/Sources 404 Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/intrepid-backports/universe/source/Sources 404 Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/intrepid-backports/multiverse/source/Sources 404 Not Found
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead."

Have fun
d0m.

Can you please run "apport-collect -p update-manager 888626" from the Terminal?

Hi
Did as requested &
(a) Chromium opened Launchpad saying "nearly finished"  for 20Min &

(b) Terminal said

"d0m@d0m-desktop:~$ apport-collect -p update-manager 888626
The authorization page:
should be opening in your browser. Use your browser to authorize
this program to access Launchpad on your behalf.

Waiting to hear from Launchpad about your decision...
cat: /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt-term.log: No such file or directory
d0m@d0m-desktop:~$ "

But now I have to go!
If you need a longer time with me connected, we'll need to agree a time.
Have fun
d0m.

Thanks!
For some reason your /etc/apt/sources.list{.d/} weren't attached, but it seems that problem is there. Can you please open Software Sources, disable everything under "Other Software" tab (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu#Removing_.26_Disabling_Repositories), and then try to upgrade again?
