Bug Description
I've made a new install of 11.10 and I think I've finaly got rid of the binary drivers (fglrx and fglrx-updates, there are two?) but I still can not log in in X (I can login if I switch to console CTRL+ALT+F1)
When I try to login in X the following happens. I select my account and type my password. Hits ENTER and then the screen switches to console mode, write some gibberish (a few non a-z character) and then switches back to X and I'm back at the login where I should select account and enter my password.
I had no problems like this with 11.04 and I have not found any solution. it seems that X is crashing (I think Xorg.0.log file is supplied automatically to this bug report) and I desperatly need your help.

Oh, I should add that I started out with having the same problem with the login when I used the binary drivers. I then tried to remove them, but no success, the same error that is reported in this bug.
