maximized windows are restored under the top panel

Bug Description

Using ubuntu 11.10 with all updates.

If I maximize any window, then minimize it, then restore it back, it gets placed under the top panel. Only maximized windows are not restored in its previous positions.

Window size does not change, so at the bottom of the screen is a gap that seems to be the same height as the top panel.

This seems to be a similar problem as bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/723760 but I am not sure, since in my case enabling or disabling the grid plugin does not make a difference.

I am attaching a screenshot of how a window is restored.

Some more info on the bug.

I created a new user and the bug is *not* presents. So it seems to be caused by a certain setting.

Unfortunately I was not able to reproduce the bug. I tried setting the same settings (in compiz config settings manager), but it did not reproduce the behaviour. So my question now is, where are these settings stored (which file)? I want to reset them, to get rid of this annoyance.

Ok, I found a solution to fix this problem.
Resetting unity configuration with "unity --reset" fixes it.

I still do not know what triggers it.

This seems to have been triggered by a combination of settings I have done in compiz settings manager. Unfortunately I do not know exactly what cased it, and since I have reset the unity configuration I did not experience the problem any more.

I guess you can close this bug.
