Very strange.

If you are familar with the terminal, could you please execute the following command and paste the output here:

echo import apt|python

I don't have gto a PowerPC to reproduce this bug.

This bug is a duplicate of bug #88114 and probably caused by the python-apt package being empty (see bug #88134)
