Ubuntu 11.10 startup and shutdown times

1) i have been using 11.04 from the start, shutdown time was 3secs, but now shut down time is 13 to 14sec
2) start up time is increased by about 10 sec, i didnt do fresh install of 11.10, but upgrade from 11.04

I'd also seen the 11.10 boot/shutdown times increase considerably.
(I've picked upstart as the package - not sure which package is really at fault here but upstart has a lot to do with startup so it's as good ab et as any.)

Raja: Can you describe the hardware you are running on?
I'm on a Toshiba Equium A100 laptop where I see this. I guess we should also try bootchart to see where the time is going.

I am on Compaq C770 TU,
everything was working just as fine, but with the upgrades its seems a
bit twizzy,
I made the same startup applications with both 11.04 and 11.10,

i am unable to change services in 11.10, many easy user functions seems
missing.

i confirm that services have not changed from 11.04 to 11.10, they remain same. i checked with bootup manager.

Boot/Shutdown times have increased considerably.. Even I've noticed it and its annoying.
I did a clean install and yet my shutdown time is 15s and boot time is 50s. Ubuntu was no way like this. On Natty shutdown=3sand boot=35~40s

Sorry, but this does not describe an actionable bug in Ubuntu. There are many factors that may contribute to a longer boot time; we are actively working on improving this for 12.04, but a bug report saying that boot is slower doesn't help. Closing this report as invalid.
