That report was filed in text mode.
Just got the lightdm updated to 1.0.1-0ubuntu3 - and it did not help.

have a look in /var/cache/apt/archives/ to see if you still have the old version of nvidia-current.

should be current_280.13-0ubuntu4 (current_280.13-0ubuntu5 was the version causing issues on my system)
if you do, then:

sudo apt-get remove nvidia-current
sudo dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/nvidia-current_280.13-0ubuntu4_i386.deb
sudo reboot

should fix the issue.

failing that, you might need to revert to the nouvea drivers.

I used to have auto login in Mythbuntu 10.04. After reintroducing it, I foung it as a workaround also to this black screen bug. So command:
sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
and configure:
autologin-user=<YOUR-USERNAME>
autologin-user-timeout=0
user-session=mythbuntu

Hey andre-k,

Hi, thanks for reporting this issue during the development period of
Ubuntu.

I notice there's not been further comments to the bug report since the
release came out, would you mind updating us on the status of it in the
release?

Are you still able to reproduce the issue? If not, do you think the bug
report can be closed, or do you think we should continue tracking it?

the bug remained for several days. - not sure if it got fixed till release (don't think so)
In the end - reinstalling nvidia-common fixed it.
(sudo apt-get --reinstall install nvidia-common.)

- it's gone now, I I did't see any similar problem
