Bug Description

Grab an application window by the top menu bar and you can drag it pretty much where ever you want on the screen. Except if you try to place directly below the desktop menu bar. Grab the application window and start moving it towards the top of the screen. Get within about six pixels of the desktop menu bar and it stops. Keep moving the mouse and after a bit it will jump up.

That was yesterday. Today is a little different. Dragging the window up goes smoothly, but dragging it down from the very top of the screen it hesitates and then jumps. And now it is behaving perfectly.

Suppose the machine has enough hours on it now that the sharp edges on the clock signals have gotten worn down enough for everything to work smoothly? (Sorry, I couldn't help it.)

Zotac Zbox Ubuntu Version 11.

I wonder if this might be related to the incorrect display/screen size problem I have.

While we are at it, the arrow at the bottom of the vertical scroll bar is overlapped by the resize-the-window-triangle, which makes it unusable.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. Compiz, in particular, is in heavy development and this bug may have been fixed in the development version of Ubuntu (12.04) if not on your current version. If you are able, it would be of great help if you could confirm if the bug still exists by testing a livecd (available at ubuntu.com). When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. If you are unable to test the development version, please let us know if you are able to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 11.10.

Thank you for your help and patience.

also, please check to see if you have manually enabled 'edge attraction' in the compiz setting manager's "Snapping Windows" plugin. That may be conflicting with the 'edge resistance' option.

I do not need to check because I know I have done no customization. I am
running it just like it was installed, with all the default settings.
