Bug Description

On my Ubuntu 10.04.3 with kernel
Linux monster 2.6.32-34-generic #77-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 13 19:39:17 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux
/proc/cpuinfo reports one core for my core 2 duo Intel E8400 and probably wrong speed.

The situation is the same as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-kernel-headers/+bug/444686

After I add acpi=off to kernel options, I see 2 cores, but I can't power off.

I can provide more information if necessary
