This is most probably a duplicate of bug 861125. Please follow the instructions there. If you do not see the hp-systray icon, do a complete system update (to apply fixes of other bugs concerning hp-systray) and then log out and log in again. Then click the icon and choose "Quit" and in a terminal window run "LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 hp-systray". Now you should be able to open the settings window and also the HP Toolbox by clicking the appropriate menu entries without a crash.

Can you do all updates on your Oneiric box, log out and log in again? Does the HP logo icon of the applet now appear and does it work?
