Attached branch resolves FTBFS, but binary still doesn't /seem/ to work properly. (First time i've tried it, so might be using it wrong.)

I believe it needs more work to port to Gnome 3.

This is a nautilus extension. As nautilus 3.x is of course written with GTK 3, this needs to be ported to GTK 3 as well since linking to both GTK 2 and GTK 3 in the same process is not supported. This is Debian Bug 637314.

needs porting to gtk3, which isn't done upstream (since 2009)

I personally pinged upstream about this and Sergey (main upstream developer) is actually working on porting diff-ext to GTK3. I will upload an updated package into Debian as soon as a new upstream release will be published.

thanks for the update, there is no reason why it shouldn't re-enter into the p-series.

I've also updated Debian's bug (#637314) accordingly, it actually went out of my TODO list. Matthias, should we set this bug report as confirmed again or should we keep it as it is until a new upstream release will be pushed to Debian?

keep it as won't fix, and the next version uploaded to unstable will be synced
during the next release cycle.

Encounting the problem of missing diff-ext in Oneiric, I created a quick replica in Pyhton that does it for me: https://launchpad.net/nautilus-compare

I just had a look at nautilus-compare and it does its work pretty much well. Diff-ext's upstream is currently unavailable and converting it to GTK3 is definitely not an easy task. Will you maintain your software in the future in case of bugs or issues? I can eventually upload it to Debian and ask for diff-ext's removal if we won't find any other good solution. Feel free to mail me if you want to discuss this more.

This should be a "Won't Fix", because package has dropped from debian archives:
