lightdm should again offer an alternate recommends on lightdm-greeter so that derivatives can choose their own greeter.

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.

Distributions other than Ubuntu need a clear method of using lightdm if it is to become anything other than a login manager for Unity. This is related to bug 799754.
