Bug Description
gnome-shell depends on a gjs API change that was made between 1.29.0 and 1.29.16:
https:/
But oneiric still has gjs 1.29.0. This causes
• bug 811291 “Weird inconsistent behavior/lack of syncrhonization with empathy messaging integration”
• bug 816762 “gnome-shell Alt+F2 can’t run anything”
Please upgrade oneiric’s gjs to 1.29.16.

Yes, it's a known issue but gjs depends on the equivalent gobject 1.29.15 and there is concern that gobject might need a newer pygobject. The problem with that is that pygobject hasn't released a new version.
