Superscript and circumflex with minus sign
when typing circumflex (^) followed by one character, it put it on top (superscript)

turlupouet, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Following the directions from:

http://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Making_Text_Superscript_or_Subscript

this issue is unreproducible via the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop && wget -c https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/815807/+attachment/2230904/+files/superscript_and_circumflex.odt -O info.odt && lowriter -nologo info.odt

I could not highlight any text combination and get text to disappear. Could you please provide step by step directions on how you got text to disappear?

ok, sorry for misunderstanding
first: the normal behaviour
type circumflex and one character, for example: ^9
the combination of ^ and 9 is automatically changed into 9 (in superscript character)

second: the "bug"
type circumflex and minus: ^-
nothing appears instead of the superscripted minus (-) character

For example, if you want to write "50 g per square meter", you type: 50 g.m^-2
but it gives: 50 g.m2
-> nothing is superscripted and the minus is disappeared

turlupouet, as per http://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Making_Text_Superscript_or_Subscript typing something as you described is not normal behavior. Could you please provided step by step details on how to cause this typing replacement to occur?

you are right, actually it is just with the succession of circumflex (^) and one number
it works only with numbers not with letters, it works with the symbol plus (+) but not with minus (-)
but it is very useful when you often use powered numbers (exponential, scientific numbers, units...)

if you type ^ and two numbers, only the first is superscripted, the second is in normal font

it seems to be automatic change of font during typing
there is nothing special to do, the change is made by LO, not by me and this behaviour looks normal to me (just need to be improved), it was like that since the beginning
I looked in Auto-correction settings but nothing about that

I don't know how to explain better
