Bug Description

Am finding that any .desktop with Settings in that line doesn't show in gnome-shells applications lenses and can't be found in a search
Removing Settings from the line allows them to show
Clear examples are synaptic.desktop and update-manager.desktop

Further - if the edited .desktops are in /usr/.. then they will only show for the login when they were edited.
To keep permanently visible they need to be copied to `~/.local/share/applications
This seems to only affect 32 bit install, though not confirmed here, only have a 32 bit install

I think it's worth mentioning that on a fresh 07/15 install this is no longer an issue, icons that previously failed to show are there and all added apps are also showing.
Other than the applications.menu snafu gnome-shell is working fine

So I'd consider this fixed as far as 'current state'. it may arise down the road it terms of upgrades from 11.04 to 11.10
