Bug Description

Hello,

Since the newer versie, 2011, I have the following problem:
When the alining process has started it comes back and not even 2 pictures are stitched.
The error says that there are no matching points.
However when I use 2010, everything works fine,
except I sometimes get the error that the image was blanc.
But if I save the project and let it stitch on another computer,
no problems are found.
Change computers works most of the times!

Hope to hear soon from you,
because I can't imagen I am the only one having this problem.

btw: can you make an extra set of presets under Optimise of Exposure?
I tend to make my pictures with the biggest Diagfragma and not a set exposure not whitebalance.
This option is not availible (yet)..

Thanx & keep up the good work!..

the most likely difference between the two computer are the settings.

Start Hugin 2011.0, go to the Preferences menu, the Control Point Detectors
and hit the Load Defaults button.

Try again. If you still have an error to report, change the status, reply to
this ticket and change the status to New. Also when reporting back, please
give us some more information about the two computers. What operating systems
are they?

Hi,

First of all thanx for the quick reply.
I'll try to give you as much information as possible,
so be ready to read some info.

Computer A:
AMD Phenom Quad core, Windows 7 (32bits), 4Gb ram, (3,2gb usanble).
I removed versie 2011 and tried the Beta 2, after removing Beta 2 and installing 2010.
Hugin stitched without any question and currently is busy with a full 360.

Computer B:
AMD 3200+, Windows XP SP3, 2Gb ram.
I had the 2010 first on it and upgraded to 2011.
Which also has the same problem as Computer A, no matches on any photos.

With the 2010 version I sometimes had a problem during stitching,
it gave one of the following errors:
-Picture is blanc
-"file" could not be created, while many pictures were stitched before.
-Error creating swap file.

If this happend, I would save the project file.
And open this on the other computer and let it stitch there.
In 99% I never got any error.

I currently have Computer B running with the steps you told me to take.
when I have more information I will post it up here.

Update:
Coputer B, with 2011 version, didn't align any pictures.
Did load the the defaults.

Btw: Computer A also had defaults loaded.
When installing I choose for the option 'Clean regisrty settings'.
Which still is aligning.

I am trying to understand the description of the symptoms but I am not sure at which time in the process you experience the errors.

Let's try to diagnose it by keeping it simple.

1) starting point: remove all versions of Hugin and reinstall it. The same version on both computers. Use the option clean registry settings. So that theoretically they should be both exactly the same.

2) alignment: load a set of images and align them. Does the process succeed or fail? if it fails, what do you see? an error message? can you post the set of images somewhere to be tested?

3) stitch: if you have a set of images that align stitch them. Does the stitching process fail? if yes save the log and attach it to this ticket. Attach also the .pto for the project.

thanks

Hi there,

Thanx for your reply.

Step 1, I did and is now aliging.
At this step the process would have stopped somewhere,
and if I remember correctly it said that it could not find any match points between 2 photos.
While the older version never complained.

About positing photos:
I make 360 flat and full photos.
Which means that I either need to upload 24 or 240 photos onto a site, with an average of about 4,5 Mbytes.
I don't know any good sites for that, sorry.
I'm not that good with creating websites and such.
However, over a month or 2 I can setup a server with 50Mbit up and down.
So by then I can give you access to the photos.

So far, I did find some kind of solution.
I am still using the older version,
but at the second tab, Images, I set the Feature Matching (autopano) on Cpfind (multirow/stacked).
No errors so far when I use this setting.

If you need any more information, please don't hasitate to write.

Take care,

Allart

Hi again,

I tried what you said,
clean install, on both computers, but the results are the following:
After loading a set of 240 photos and let them Align.
A error happens, with the following text:
Warning 240 unconnected image groups found: [0], [1]..,[239]
Please create control points between unconnected images using the Control Points Tab.

After adding the points, press the Align button agian.

Again, I installed the 2010 versie which does not give this errors with the same steps.

Thanx..

Thank you for trying. You will need to try differently if you want to fix the
problem.

> After loading a set of 240 photos and let them Align.

Can you please start testing with just two photos? I asked you to "keep it
simple" in my previous comment.

> A error happens, with the following text:

One possibility is that the CP detector crashes because of too many images.
To confirm it we first need success with a small number of images; and then
failure with a large number of images. Hence the request to try again with
two images only.

Bad. Now we can't use this setup to identify the bug (if there is a bug).
Changing the installation in the middle of a diagnosis makes the diagnosis
impossible.

If you want a precise diagnosis and maybe even a solution to the issue, you
have to help. You can help by:
1) following the advice given to you to the letter and not taking initiatives
unless you understand the consequences of such initiatives
2) giving precise, detailed feedback

There are three 2010 "versie": 2010.0.0, 2010.2.0, and 2010.4.0. 2010.4.0 has
CPFind. The other two do not. CPFind may be a factor to the problem you are
experiencing. Without specific detailed information, nobody can help you.
