Bug Description

Name and version of distro: Ubuntu 10.10 2.6.35-30-generic x86_64
SBackup version: 0.11.3

installed from: Ubuntu Repos

Overview: Cannot send backup report through Gmail's SMTP server.

Steps to produce:
- Configure sbackup with Gmail's SMTP settings (smtp.gmail.com:587)
- Be sure to select "use a username and password." Be sure to select "use a secure connection" and "TLS."
- Press "Test Mail Settings"

Actual Results: the following error is produced: "SMTP AUTH extension not supported by server."

Expected Results: Mail setting test is passed successfully. Reports can be sent through Gmail SMTP servers.

Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make sbackup better.

The bug you're encountering is already fixed in sbackup 0.11.4. Try to install it from our PPA https://edge.launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team/+archive/ppa.

The original bug report was:
LP: #588578 Email notification/reporting doesn't work with GMAIL:
test against string '1' rather number 1 when checking whether to use TLS

In order to fix this problem in Ubuntu 10.10 it is necessary to port this patch to sbackup 0.11.3 which is included in the Ubuntu repositories. Help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have downloaded, installed and tested the newer version (0.11.4) and it
appears to be working as expected.
