Bug Description
When I click on a running program in the launcher, it only sometimes switches to the workspace within which that program is running. I have not yet been able to discern what triggers this problem, but it happens a lot (I'd estimate around 30-40% of the time). It does seem to be the case that by pressing the appropriate Super-<Numeric> key combination causes Unity to switch to the correct workspace, and that seems to fix the problem for a bit. Unfortunately, I'm also experiencing the problem reported in bug #772951 wherein the launcher sometimes "forgets" these numbers (but starting any program not already in the launcher corrects this). I mention this because perhaps the two problems are related. When they both occur at the same time -- and perhaps they always do, I've not been able to determine that yet -- it forces me to use the mouse, which is a major drawback when I'm in "power user" mode / mindset.
I believe this bug is related to Bug #791412 and Bug #799552 and Bug #802664. I am filing a separate bug primarily because I believe this has little to do with window snapping, as I don't often use that feature. Just now I confirmed that I cannot reproduce the problem by following the steps reported by the original poster (OP) of Bug #791412.
Thanks for your bug report. There have been a new release of Ubuntu since this bug was reported so we are wondering if its still an issue for you in Ubuntu 11.10?
