Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

From the help window, if I do a search for a topic, when I hit search, the entire app crashes. I'm re-reporting this (duplicate of #68769) because the crash occurs regardless of the search term. Running Ubuntu Gnome 6.10, OpenOffices 2.0.4, last version updates 12/06.

Thanks,

tjh

I have recreated this bug. I am using Kubuntu 6.10, OpenOffice.org version 2.0.4-0ubuntu4. The steps to reproduce follow:

1) Launch OpenOffice
2) Go to Help -> OpenOffice.org Help
3) Click the Find tab
4) Enter search string
5) Click the Find button

Changed in openoffice.org:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed

The first time it crashed with a SIGSEV message I believe. The second time Impress became unresponsive.

I also tested it with Writer and it did not crash.

I can confirm this bug with feisty final and openoffice 2.2.0 (up to date).

I could reproduce this bug with the following steps:
- start openoffice impress
- open help
- klick search tab
- enter some search-text
- klick search button
=> all openoffice windows disappear
- recovery will start on next openoffice startup

At the moment impress is very unusable (there are also other important, confirmed bugs)!

I confirm it on feisty and on gutsy. The problem is related to the ubuntu packages, not on the "vanilla" OpenOffice packages.

I can't reproduce this in gutsy beta (OOo 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu2). I've tried it from writer, calc, impress and base, i've tried searching for over a dozen different terms within both index and find. Unless anyone has any objections, I'm changing the status to Fix released.
