4) What happened instead is some of the Chinese text in the Test 2 box is missing.

WORKAROUND: Open the pdf in Adobe Reader.

Song Zhao, the issue of the Chinese characters missing in Evince is confirmed viewing in Evince via the Terminal:

 cd ~/Desktop && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/797596/+attachment/2170660/+files/libreofficeWriterFile.odt && unoconv --listener && unoconv -f pdf libreofficeWriterFile.odt && evince libreofficeWriterFile.pdf

the Chinese text in the Test 2 box is missing. It was not missing in Adobe Reader. This bug will focus on this. For any other issues you may have mentioned please file separate bug reports to honor the "one issue per bug" policy.
