Bug Description
Binary package hint: gwyddion
When the program is started with unity this items are not visible, making the program unusable. Using the classic interface the software works flawless.
This bug is similar to #787532, but it concerns Natty. The mentioned bug was fixed in Oneiric, but not in Natty. Hence the new bug report.
In the development branch (and for gwyddion v 2.24 there included), the bug has been address by basically disabling global menus within Gwyddion. This patch has been discussed and developed with upstream, and it is supposed to be a simple way to regain the lost usability of Gwyddion when used with Unity. In the future, it is possible that gwyddion will support natively global menus (hence this patch won't be necessary), but for the time being this is the best and least invasive way to have correct menus displayed both in oneiric and natty. I'd like to stress again, that without this patch, Gwyddion on Unity is essentially unusable.

Attached a patch that disables global menus under natty. It is the same patch used for the version of Gwyddion in oneiric.
