Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

Sometimes the unity panel doesn't hide itself even if the application at use is maximized to fit the full screen, also some times the "Unity-panel-service" takes up excessive memory, and there by overloading the processor and lead to Kernel panic, and then it automatically shuts down(crashing the OS ! ).

Could you check if the memory leak is still an issue with Unity 3.8.14 ? Upgrade to the latest version of Compiz through update-manager as well to check it out.

As for the panel hiding, the panel is never supposed to hide when you maximize an application. It will always stay at the top of the screen. (Did you mean "launcher" instead of panel? The launcher is the pane at the left of the screen).

@Bilal Akhtar : Yes, I meant the Launcher, sorry ! and the memory leak has stopped after updating compiz ! But the bug with the launcher being on screen with app maximized is still prevalent !

I find that my launcher also doesn't automatically hide at all times. It _usually_ hides when I move an application over the same window space. This doesn't always occur. Same goes for when I maximize a window.

The launcher does not hide bug affects me too.

Sometime, the launcher pops up, and remains. It is very disturbing since the applications use the same rectangle and so are hidden behind the launcher.
