Binary package hint: compiz

With window decorations disabled, defined mouse and keyboard shortcuts (in CCSM's General Options) should cause the window menu to appear, but don't.

Right, the window menu is provided by the window decoration. I'm
pretty sure that you need a decorator running to get the window menu

So there's no way around it? I mean, you don't need a decorator for any other popup menu. I guess I could see if it's possible to create a metacity theme that has no borders...

ccsm -> window decorator -> window decoration match -> change it to be
a blank field.

:)

The decorator is still running, at this point, but no decorations are
requested so no decorations will be drawn. Hitting alt-space should
still bring up the window menu. The reason we have it in the decorator
is that I'm trying to keep platform dependent code out of compiz.

Oh, nice; I didn't even think of that. And now I get shadows, so even better.

Experimenting with bug 1002602, I found a workaround for this.

If you don't need the decoation bar:

Set "Decoration Windows" to "none"

Leave other settings as they are.

The window menu (alt+right click or space) will be available.

Windows will also have shadows for borders.

If you don't need shadows or any kind of border:

Adjust the settings for "Active/Inactive Shadow"

Leave "Shadow windows" set to "any"

Without this, the decorator will not run, ergo no window menu.
