Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Upgraded from 10.04 to 11.04, lauched evolution.

I have deleted my email accounts, and re-created them.

When launching evolution, it will check for new emails from INBOX. For a bit, it will display my inbox. Then the whole inbox folder suddenly disappears from under the email account - it only shows Junk, Main Floor, and Trash.

I can re-reveal INBOX by going into Preferences, then opening the preferences for my account and closing the preferences without changing anything and just pressing OK.

Now when I select to sort by date, the last email I see is from yesterday. I can search for an email I know I received today, and using search I can find and display that email. As soon as I clear search, the email is no longer available.

With 10.04 everything was working just fine, I had none of these issues.

Did not test 10.10 at all, did not launch evolution even once before upgrading to 11.04.

The email server is Citadel running on an Ubuntu server.

Evolution version is 2.32.2-0ubuntu7.

Emails coming from some other IMAP servers still appear to work.

My second email account, also running on Citadel, will not show any emails at all in inbox.

Email is pretty completely unusable now.

Deleted all of the above *and* killed evolution and gconfd-2 like described here also did not help:

Thunderbird works, so at least I can use 11.04. Would prefer to use Evolution though.

Found https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/673591 and after switching to IMAP+ the behaviour seems to be back to normal.

As a user, I don't understand why I have to select "IMAP+" to get normal functionality. My server is an IMAP server, not an "IMAP+" server.

ps. Evolution in 10.04 did not show the Main Floor folder provided by Citadel. Very happy to see that Evolution in 11.04 does show it fully.

Shutting up now.

Glad it's fixed with IMAP+ please use that for future configurations since it's the 'new' generation of imap support in evolution. and it should work better than the other, if it doesn't please open a new bug report, thanks.

Changed in evolution (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Invalid
