Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

I have an hp dv7-6000er laptop with two graphic cards: integrated Radeon HD 4200 and dicrete Radeon HD 6650m card. I tried both opensource and proprietary drivers, but still while the integrated card is working, the discrete is not. I'm using Linux Mint 10 Julia (ubuntu 10.10), 64-bit.

Here is some output :

 aticonfig --list-adapters
* 0. 01:05.0 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series

* - Default adapter

lspci
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M880G [Mobility Radeon HD 4200]
01:05.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc RS880 Audio Device [Radeon HD 4200]

lspci (with open-source driver)
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M880G [Mobility Radeon HD 4200]
01:05.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc RS880 Audio Device [Radeon HD 4200]
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Device 6741

Both cards worked under windows 7 but not under linux.
It seems that my issue may be somehow related to this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/768340

George Anderston, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
