Desktop crashes to text mode, but I can recover with Alt-F6. The crash reports:

Dolphin also stops responding if I try to open the mount point.

Me too. Very problematic; ncpfs is half the reason I use this os...

After upgrading to 11.04 began having this problem. After a segfault, any further attempted operations on the mounted volume hang. Reboot is required to remove the stuck process.

I also came across this problem with Ubuntu 11.04 (amd64) and found a solution here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/762344

I followed the advice there and installed kernel 2.6.39-020639rc4 from kernel-ppa at
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.39-rc4-natty/

This solved the problem.

However, it would be nice if the fix would be packported to an "official" kernel for natty.
