Bug Description

Binary package hint: avidemux

Sound does not work in avidemux2_qt4 : load a video, click on play button and there is no sound.

On menu Tools->Preferences in Audio tab, AudioDevice is set to Dummy. Changing the AudioDevice to another choice change nothing (Sdl, Alsa, Jack, Esd, PulseAudioS, Oss). After selecting for example PulseAudioS and restarting avidemux, AudioDevice is back to Dummy.

Sound is working with avidemux2_gtk with AudioDevice PulseAudioS, and was working well avidemux2_qt4 in Maverick.

This will affect all Kubuntu users of Avidemux.

There are patches on the Avidemux site (http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/news.html#2010-11-01)

"For linux : Make you sure you grab the 2 small patches available in the forum. One deals with audio device lost when restarting avidemux."

These don't seem to have been applied to the natty release version.

There is an interesting topic on the Avidemux forum with a few fixes : http://avidemux.org/smf/index.php?topic=9143.0

And the patch for the sound seems pretty simple :

Will avidemux-qt - 1:2.5.4-0ubuntu7 be released for Natty? The oneiric version requires libstdc++6 (>= 4.6).
