I have the same problem on Dell Studio 1747 Ubuntu 11.04 x64.
Before I updated to 11.04 I had very good read/write performance on the same sd card.

What information do you need, to can investigate the problem? Can anybody give a hint?

Just a note just updated to 11.10 to see if this has been fixed, but its still an issue worked perfectly in 10.10 so can we get this fixed for this release ? just let me know any testing / bug reports you need me to run. Also i have two of these machines one with 11.04 and one with 11.10 so can test on either of these machines.

I'm not sure this is a duplicate of 873087 as it is a different hardware part.

Under kernel 3.7 (raring) the reader isn't picked up by lspci (booting without card inserted):

Never mind. Firewire wasn't enabled in the BIOS; enabling this also enables the SD card reader.
