Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I have a Asus UL30V with duo boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10. I'm trying to install Ubuntu 32bit over the the old Ubuntu partition by using a 2gb Kingston data traveler USB stick. I can run the live CD program with no problems but when I try to install the new OS I get pretty far, it says almost done copying files at the bottom installation status bar( about 95%) it crashes.

I can confirm this
With USB Flash u cant install Ubuntu 11.04 but ull get this bug
Since i made 8gb with Multiboot i filled it up with 10.04.2 10.10 and 11.04 both Xubuntu and Ubuntu i tryd all installing- all worked exept Ubuntu 11.04 Yes Xubuntu 11.04 worked
I checked MD5SUM of Ubuntu 11.04 and it was the correct one. Tryd again formating and again with Multiboot making new Usb with just Ubuntu 11.04 and installing again the same- crashing in middle.
Then with Ubuntu startup disk creator made formated and new again Ubuntu 11.04 and still the same.

BTW interesting thing- with USB install on opening Installation both (x)Ubuntu asks do i want to mount sdb witch is a flash drive.. so i say no once other time i say yes. Doesnt matter- crashes but why it asks. I dont want to install on same usb drive. Is it for new option to using CD to install persistant USB? Cool but then make it recognize that this USB is the installtion USB.

And also- both (x)Ubuntu 11.04 on instalation when choosing keyboard language i cant choose the one i want if im not pressing with mouse on 1st time correct one.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your installation media (CD/DVD) or with your hardware. Please retry your installation with new media and if it still fails I'd recommend testing your memory. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your installation media or hardware please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

Upon further consideration we'd actually like a new bug report if you still have troubles with the installer after resolving this hardware error so I am setting this bug report to Invalid. Thanks for your understanding.

I looked into it again and everything stemmed from a problem with the usb
stick I was using as installation media. Once I switched it out, everything
went well. So I think you can disregard the bug.

Thanks for the help!
