xubuntu 11.04 windows not created

After installing Xubuntu 11.04 and installing my commonly used programs (LibreOffice and skype)the windows have no upper margin. (I can't close them, minimize them, and they don't appear in the panel as running programs.) Moreover, I cannot switch between windows, and opening a new one just blocks the one behind it.

This is happening with ALL programs, even after doing an update of all system files, and rebooting.

The workspaces are unavailable (ctrl+alt+left, right, up or down change nothing in my view)

the Dock is hidden by the "windows".

Note, I am capable of moving the Firefox 4 window around a little bit.

The trick above I got from ubuntuforums seems to fix the problem when it appears. But this problem keeps coming back quite often. So the trick above threats the symptoms, but doesn't cure the disease.

Now there are three other persons that have reported this bug on ubuntuforums.

Similar problem here also. The trick fixes (bandages) the problem.
