I have seen the same problem in others laptops also so i think its
definetely reproductive in nature.

When boot ubuntu and open chat list, it takes more than 10 minutes to show connectec people, this happen to me even on 10.04 (I actually have 10.10), I try to connect trought wlan0 or eth0 or pp0 from different sources (home, work, etc), so there is not a conection problem. I have configured a IRC and Gtalk account.

Internet conection problem.
and just for general information: I have two accounts configured in empathy:
GTalk and IRC
Empathy 2.32.1
