Does it always crash if you click on a application?

No it doesn't but what is interesting is that it did continue to pop up after that. Maybe every 10 mins or so until I restarted.

Thanks for your bugreport, if this is still reproducable, could use please run:
   /usr/share/software-center/get_review_stats_helper.py --days-delta 6

and attach the output?
