ipw2200: signal level wrong

Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

This is my situation:
$ iwlist eth1 scan
.....
 Quality=33/100 Signal level=-84 dBm
.....

network manager shows 1/3 of bar (because quality is 33/100) but it never happens that I can connect to a wireless AP if the signal level is lower than -80dBm. In my opinion Network manager should consider it and should fill 0~1% of the bar instead of 30%.

This might be a dhcp problem, because when I'm connected the tolerance can be -82dBm. But for sure when the signal reaches -83dBm the link goes down

This is a bug in the ipw2000 driver, and not in network-manager.

Correct upstream and network-manger (and any other tool) falls appropriately.

which correction should be done in your opinion?
And just a curiosity: why there are two indicators (link quality and signal level) instead of one? is link quality the result of an operation using the signal level? (I don't know, something like 100-20*log(signal_level) or something similar to this!)

I use ipw3945d-2.6.22-14-generic (Intel) card on Laptop. Let I tell this way.
Indicator of signal strength has 4 bars and it never shows only one bar(if the signal is low) it just disconnects. I think that the range between good and bad signal isn't OK.

Hello.

I never see 1 of 4 signal levels, so I am guessing that the indication of
signal level is wrong.

Have a nice day.
