Bug Description
Binary package hint: myspell-pt-br
$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu Natty (development branch)
Release: 11.04
$ apt-cache policy myspell-pt-br
myspell-pt-br:
Installed: 20101030-1
Candidate: 20101030-1
Version table:
*** 20101030-1 0

en-us and it-it symbolic links exist in /usr/share/
I added them as root pointing to the hunspell dictionaries:
$ ls -l /usr/share/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 2011-04-14 16:04 /usr/share/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 2011-04-14 16:04 /usr/share/
When I restarted Firefox, Brazilian Portuguese was now an option for spell checking.
On a side note, I wanted to as you: why are there two links for each language in /usr/share/
$ ls -l /usr/share/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 2011-04-13 13:41 /usr/share/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 2011-04-13 13:41 /usr/share/
That makes Firefox recognize two different U.S. English dictionaries. Are both symlinks really necessary?
Thanks,
- Vítor

I confirm: without the symbolic links Firefox does not show Portuguese dictionaries.
