No window decorations, no launcher or panel. I had to switch to console and run gnome-terminal in it.

fglrx Versions: 2:8.840-0ubuntu1
compiz Versions: 1:0.9.4+bzr20110405-0ubuntu1+r2732+201104052136

I tried re-installing fglrx drivers (version 11.3) from AMD, but they refuse to install.

compiz (core) - Error: Couldn't load plugin 'bailer'
compiz (core) - Error: Couldn't load plugin 'detection'
compiz (core) - Warn: Value type is not yet set

compiz (1:0.9.5.92.1-0ubuntu1) packages & dependencies have been purged then reinstalled, but no differences.

This is a configuration error, not a deficiency in the program. Closing.
