Bug Description

I installed 11.04 Beta 1 and had very very soft (low volume) sound even though all the Ubuntu sound sliders were at max (except the one that gives you the ability to go to 200%, I left it at 100%).

I figured out with alsamixer on the console that the alsa volume was at 1%. Setting it to 100% fixed the problems.

I have found other people reporting similar issues as far back as 10.04:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10635063

It seems to be a trivial thing with an easy fix? Maybe it can make it for 11.04.

Hi Hacre and thanks for reporting this bug. Due to a bug in PulseAudio, it doesn't handle outputs correctly where there is one volume control only labeled "speaker".

Changed in alsa-driver (Ubuntu):
status: New → Triaged
summary: - USB-Audio Playback problem
+ USB-Audio volume control problem
