None of the sound events can be heard except default "System Ready"

On modifying the existing Ubuntu theme and installing it, I stopped getting even the login sound or any other sound.
I am able to hear music in Totem. But the sound theme has no effect now.
Now it is as though the sound themes are disabled.
I shall attach the new theme I created using the tool so that it can be verified.

This seems to be something to do with the index.theme file getting written in the wrong order. Currently ConfigParser is used to write this file but I may have to resort to manually doing it. Luckily writing it is easier than reading it.

I tried installing the freedesktop sound theme in the hope that the new theme installation will bring back the sound events.
But it did not. Could there be a change in some system settings?

I checked the folder /usr/share/sounds/ (where the freedesktop theme got installed). But I could not find the sound theme "Rajesh" I installed with Sound-Theme-Manager.
But I can still see the theme in the list of theme installed, in the Sound Effects tab in Sound Preferences dialog, and also in Sound-Theme-Manager. Has it been installed in a different location?

And also, the Ubuntu theme that is present in this location does not get listed in the list of theme installed.
Thought these info might help you in debugging.

What operating system are you using?

 I am using Ubuntu 11.04 and no locally installed sounds (locally installed sound themes are in ~/.local/share/sounds, system wide sound themes are in /usr/share/sounds) will play using /usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play . I have fixed what I thought was the problem and every index.theme file is now properly formatted but the problem persists.

For now, I am going to mark this bug invalid and report the bug in libcanberra.

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat).
And I found the themes installed in the local sound themes directory. (Thanks for the path ! )
I am attaching a screenshot of the file permissions of the index.theme and the stereo/*.ogg files for the theme I created and installed with Sound Theme Manager.
Not sure if this is due to the owner not being root.Will check it out and report it.
