Hi,

I was trying to run nova-compute and was following the guide
http://uksysadmin.wordpress.com/2011/02/17/running-openstack-under-virtualbox-a-complete-guide/

I was trying:
wget http://smoser.brickies.net/ubuntu/ttylinux-uec/ttylinux-uec-amd64-12.1_2.6.35-22_1.tar.gz
uec-publish-tarball ttylinux-uec-amd64-12.1_2.6.35-22_1.tar.gz mybucket

I don't think i am using an S3 compatible backend. Is that really required for a single node configuration?
How should i proceed if that is required?

Rishi

Looking at your logs, it appears that the nova-objectstore (which provides an S3 backend) might not be running. Could you check that ? Maybe attach the objectstore log ?

It looks like the api is having trouble communicating with nova-objectstore. Is nova-objectstore running on that ip? can you curl 10.0.2.15:3333 ?
Is there any error mentioned in the nova-objectstore log?

It looked like the guest network was conflicting with the host network

--s3_host=10.0.2.15

both are using 10.X hence the problem

setting:
 --s3_host=127.0.0.1 <- /etc/nova/nova.conf
S3_URL="http://127.0.0.1:3333" <- novarc file

 & restarting nova-api, nova-objectstore (sudo restart nova-api, sudo restart nova-objectstore)

nova-api is trying to grab the parts out of nova-objectstore at
s3_host : 10.3.3.191
s3_port: 3333

you could try setting --s3_host to 0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1 to see if that makes it skip your proxy.
